Tomi Reichental, a survivor of Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany visited CCS recently. Tomi addressed a group of senior History students and students from Transition Year. The students asked questions and listened to the harrowing story of Tomi’s life at Bergen-Belsen.
Tomi signed copies of his book ‘I was a Boy in Belsen’ for students and staff and Deputy Principal Mr. Burke presented him with a specially commissioned drawing of the Shandon Bells by 4th Year student Lisa Mellett.
The visit was organised by Ms. O’Doherty.
Another successful French Exchange came to an end with the departure from CCS of our friends from Lycée Saint Martin, Rennes in January. Transition Year students from CCS visited Rennes in November 2011, accompanied this year by Ms. Brown and Mr. Murphy and a group of students from Lycée Saint Martin, accompanied by their teachers, came to CCS in January last. The students stayed with their host families and took part in a variety of trips and activities. They also attended school during their stay. One of the highlights of the trip to Rennes was a visit to Paris.
